Young man sentenced in connection with Pitt Meadows rave

PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) -A young man who posted sexual photos online from a Pitt Meadows rave has learned his fate. He will not have a criminal record.

The sentence is a conditional discharge. After serving 18 months probation and 120 hours of community service, 21-year-old Dennis Warrington’s record will be cleared. He pleaded guilty to one count in the fall, after posting three images on Facebook of a teenage girl engaged in sexual acts in September 2010.

Outside Provincial Court in Port Coquitlam the victim, who we cannot identify, says she forgives Warrington.

“I just really hope that he learned from what he did and that he puts his second chance to good use because you don’t get them everyday,” she says.

Judge Shehni Dossa says Warrington qualified for a conditional sentence because he’s apologized, was scarred by a three day jail stay, and has followed strict conditions imposed at home by his parents.

Charges of sex assault against another person were dropped last year when Crown found there was insufficient evidence.

The victim also has a warning for those thinking about posting questionable material on the Internet.

“Think about the other people, think about it before you do it,” she urges.  “It has a negative effect on people and kids don’t realize that.  It takes two seconds to post something on Facebook, and two seconds to basically ruin your life and ruin someone else’s life.”
