VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A boxer with Olympic ambitions is the latest Stanley Cup rioter to be sent to jail. The man has been sentenced to 45 days.
Arman Aujla will serve his sentence on weekends, to avoid conflicts with work and boxing tournaments.
He was 18 when he smashed the windows of a business with a hockey stick and helped flip a vehicle during the riot in June, 2011.
Aujla is an amateur boxer who hopes to take it to the next level; he was concerned that jail time would cause him to miss tournaments.
While the judge felt time in custody was necessary, he took Aujla’s sport and work into account. The judge also thinks Aujla’s prospects of rehabilitation are good.

This is simply a waste of taxpayers money.
why have tax payers pay for his jail time. i demand that he do community service as well as pay for damages. i don’t give two craps about his weekend grounding.
Well, let’s make sure the criminals aren’t inconvenienced in any way! They’re the ones we must be concerned about after all.
Seriously?
Hmmm… why not go one step further and just make him do one day a year for the next 45 years. Oh, let him pick the days as you wouldn’t want him to be inconvenienced.
