Online petition launched to cancel “Border Security” TV show

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The goal is to cancel a reality TV show that recorded Border Services agents arresting immigrant workers at construction sites in Vancouver.

An online petition has been launched by the wife of one of the workers targeted in the raid, who says she’s disgusted the government would stoop so low as to profit off her family’s suffering.

Change.org already has at least 8,000 names of people who want to see “Border Security” taken off the air.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, who signed off on the raid, is defending the show — saying illegal immigrants pose huge problems.

The Canada Border Services Agency has been facing criticism since a raid at a construction site in Vancouver, where officers arrested members of a painting crew as a camera rolled for the reality TV program “Border Security.”

Force Four Entertainment, the production company, has previously said the workers were asked to sign a release form to allow the footage to be broadcast. “Border Security” airs on Global TV and National Geographic.
