VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Stay in school, kids! That high school diploma isn’t what it used to be.
Research shows post-secondary grads are landing jobs that were once reserved for applicants with only a Grade 12 education.
You used to be able to skirt by with your high-school diploma to land a low-skill gig, but that’s changed; a new survey done for CareerBuilder.ca finds more than one-third of bosses and HR-types are hiring post-secondary grads over someone with just a diploma.
If that isn’t enough to convince you to stick around the classroom, this might: More than four out of 10 employers say they are unlikely to promote someone who doesn’t have a college degree.
Fifty-nine per cent require a two-year credential or higher for their postings, while 45 per cent require a four-year degree or better.
