Charge laid in connection with Surrey Christmas Eve murder

SURREY (NEWS1130) -A family is pleased a 22-year-old man has been charged in a deadly Christmas Eve shooting in 2011.

Sergeant Jennifer Pound with IHIT says Bradley McPherson was a true victim, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Russell Bidesi has been charged with second-degree murder; he’s already in custody for another second-degree murder charge. Police say there is no connection between the two cases.

McPherson’s mother, Susan, says her son’s death has broken their family but they’re happy that the accused is not currently on the street.

She tells us it’s been a long year and a half. “We go through several different emotions, from numb to tears to… happiness and joy and relief.”

McPherson was killed at a house party. His mother says he was simply standing up to a bully.
