Higgins and Tanev out indefinitely

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) –  The Canucks begin a five-game road trip in Calgary Wednesday and will be without forward Chris Higgins and defenceman Chris Tanev.

The pair could be gone for quite a while. Coach Alain Vigneault described both as having lower-body injuries, and while he is hopeful that Higgins can return before the playoffs, he says that both players are out indefinitely.

Vigneault confirms that Higgins was hurt last night in the team’s 2-0 win over Phoenix but would not elaborate. He did say that it is not a recurrence of Higgins’ previous staph infection problems.

Tanev hasn’t played since an apparent leg injury last Saturday in Vancouver’s 5-2 win over Calgary.

Cory Schneider will get his 12th straight start in goal tomorrow in Calgary. The Canucks have won nine of their past 11 games and have just nine games left in the regular season.
