Cost of Lotto 6/49 tickets set to increase

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – You are going to have to pay more to play the Lotto 6/49.

Beginning in September, tickets prices are going up to $3 from $2.

But News1130 is chatting with people in Vancouver who say it probably won’t stop them from playing.

Many say people that want to win, are still going to try to do so…

“A dollar wouldn’t matter much if you won like $2000 or so,” says one woman.

Others say they never bothered to play to begin with…

“Chances of winning are pretty low, once in a great while I will buy a ticket…but that’s about it,” explains one man.

“I call it the idiot tax, I just don’t think we should be encouraging gambling,” says another man.

But the people behind the Lotto 6/49 say the makeover also means that starting in September, players have the chance to win a new $1 million prize and jackpots starting at $5 million.

What the money from the price hike will be used for isn’t clear.

Greediness of lotto company

The concept of buying lottery is affordability. It doesn’t make sense to increase the cost of lottery. Most ordinary people have their dream and wish to win the lottery. The greediness of lotto company will have a negative effect on their sales. Is this how Canadian business concept being cultivated and practiced throughout Canada ? Learn from the American lottery, it is still the affordability that drives their sales. In Canada, it is driven by greediness of lotto company. It is just disgusting. We should have a competing lottery system so people can make a choice.
