CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – The man charged with criminal negligence causing death after a woman fell from a hang-glider last spring will head to trial this fall.
Pilot William Orders has pleaded not guilty; his trial will begin October 22nd.
Lenami Godinez-Avila fell 300 metres to her death during a tandem flight with Orders.
The main focus will be exactly what was involved in the incident that lead to the death, including whether Godinez-Avila was strapped in properly and whether Orders made mistakes when he took her out on the hang-gliding trip.
The trial is expected to last six days.
Orders is also accused of of trying to destroy evidence by swallowing the memory card from a wing-mounted video camera.
