RCMP looking for woman behind attack at Cloverdale Rodeo

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Mounties in Surrey are looking for a woman seen in a YouTube video attacking a protester at the Cloverdale Rodeo over the weekend.

Corporal Bert Paquet says the victim claims she was spat on, grabbed by the hair, punched, and then kicked.

“I believe at the time, the victim was protesting cruelty to animals; we often see these peaceful protests at rodeos across the province and we believe this was the case at the time.”

The woman can be heard using profanity and racial slurs.

The victim, Shukria Azini, says she was disgusted and shocked at how she was treated.

“Just because she saw my sign and what my sign said. It was no reason for someone to act like that. I took my camera and started recording because I wasn’t sure how to react to it, I was there for the animals and trying to do something good” says Azini.

“We are still looking, not only to identify the female seen in this video involved in this incident, as well as any other potential witnesses that may have anymore information that could assist in our investigation,” adds Corporal Paquet.
