VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The BC Lions still have a few injury concerns ahead of a weekend road game in Edmonton against the Eskimos.
The most likely injury return this week is kicker Paul McCallum, who has missed both of the Lions’ regular season games this year with a groin injury.
“Right now, Paul is rehabbing pretty well. It’s one of those things. We’re going to see how well he gets this week,” Lions head coach Mike Benevides tells News1130 Sports.
The 43-year old McCallum has been working out lightly at recent practices.
Benevides also says that receiver Shawn Gore, who was injured in last week’s 24-16 victory over Toronto will stay with the concussion protocol and the team will wait a couple of days to see how he feels. Gore was feeling better on Sunday.
The other outstanding injury is the sprained ankle of linebacker Adam Bighill. Bighill, who was also hurt in the Argonauts’ game will go through rehab and continue to strengthen the ankle, but Benevides does not expect Bighill to be ready to go for Saturday’s visit to Edmonton.
