UN gang members plead guilty to plotting to kill Bacon bros

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Five UN gang members have admitted to their roles in plotting to kill the Bacon brothers.
There are very few details of the plea agreement, as there are heavy publication bans in place.
These five men also wanted to kill some of Jonathan, Jamie, and Jarrod Bacon’s associates from the Red Scorpions gang.
Some of the five are also accused of several other crimes, including first-degree murder.
Sentencing for this case will happen over the next few weeks.
The maximum sentence is life in prison. However, the accused have already been in custody for quite awhile, so they could get credit for time already served.
BC’s gang task force is not naive to think these guilty pleas will drastically change the gang situation in this province.
Sgt. Lindsey Houghton is applauding these developments, but isn’t certain it will make a difference on the streets. “It is hard to say, as this is an event that happened four or five years ago now and we have still seen gang-related murders happening in cities across British Columbia.”
He does think police detachments are working more closely together than they ever have before. “Whether it is sharing information or disrupting actual murders from taking place, like as what happening in the case with the Bacon Brothers.”
Houghton says the UN gang remains an issue in this province. “Many are still out in communities across BC and we continue to aggressively target them.”
