Royal baby: When will Prince George of Cambridge visit Canada?

By

OTTAWA – The royal baby may be hitting the road next year with reports saying the new prince will join the Duke and Duchess on an official trip to Australia and New Zealand.

That’s the same first trip William made when he was just nine months old.

The push has begun to get Prince George of Cambridge on a visit to Canada next year.

A trip with the royal baby to the Great White North is a must, according to Justin Morin-Carpentier with the Monarchist League of Canada.

“I think Canada being the most senior commonwealth realm reserves the right to have one of those wonderful first visits,” he said.

Canadian Heritage Minister Shelly Glover points out the new parents will have a busy schedule with lots of requests but she’s not giving up.

“Let’s keep our fingers crossed and let’s hope that we get to see the royal couple and their little baby boy sooner rather than later,” she said. “It would be a treat for all of us to be able to see the royal couple with their new little baby.”

“They are well-liked and well-respected across the world so they get requests frequently from all countries.”

But historically, visits to Canada from a new heir to the throne, don’t happen quickly.

Prince William was nine when he first came to Canada and Prince Charles was 21.
