NEW WESTMINSTER  (NEWS1130) – A Surrey man has been charged with committing an indecent act in public.

Transit Police officers say they were doing routine patrols on Nelson Court near the Sapperton SkyTrain station in New Westminster on Aug.13 around 6:00 p.m., when they saw a man laying in the grass with his pants around his knees, pleasuring himself.

Cst. Anne Drennan says this incident was one of a kind. “The grassy area is adjacent to a playground used by a daycare centre next door. A man had his pants down around his knees and was committing a sexual act with a vibrator. Fortunately the daycare was closed.”

David Mathon has been released on a number of conditions including not to be within 100 metres of a daycare, park, swimming pool or other areas where children could be.

His next court date is set for Aug. 28.
