ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A pastor working with Abbotsford’s homeless says the city has not interfered with a new homeless camp, after people were forced to move down the road last month.
That said, Ward Draper still feels the move was unnecessary. “You know, how many thousands of dollars in tax money was thrown out the window just to move people back on the street where they started from a few weeks before.”
Draper says he has been working with the people living on Gladys Road. “Right now it’s just a matter of trying to keep the dialogue going, which is ongoing on how we can come up with some creative long-term solutions.”
The city has said the move was due to health and safety concerns, Draper admits the new camp is in better shape.
