Torts sticking to winning formula

PHILADELPHIA, PA (NEWS1130) – The Canucks practised in the city of Brotherly Love this morning after a 3-2 win over the Flyers. The team then headed to Buffalo for a date with the Sabres.
Coach John Torterella still had the Sedin twins split up during the workout. He’s looking for the chemistry that Henrik had with Ryan Kesler and Chris Higgins in the last game to carry over as the road trip continues. The trio combined for six points against the Flyers. Daniel remains on a line with Mike Santorelli and Jannik Hansen.
Tortorella is pleased the twins are open to the idea of playing apart. “I think they want it. I think they’re smart enough to know they were being checked pretty closely. We just weren’t developing enough quality chances, so that’s why we moved it around. They’ve got to find a way to get through it.”
Some good news on the injury front, Alex Burrows was working out off-ice without a walking boot. Burrows appears to be ahead of schedule to return from a fractured foot suffered from blocking a shot on opening night in San Jose .
The game against the Sabers will be the first time Zack Kassian has played in Buffalo since being traded to Vancouver in exchange for Cody Hodgson in February 2012. Hodgson – the first draft pick by Mike Gillis as the Canucks GM – is starting into the first season of a new six-year deal worth $4.25 million US per season.
