Body parts found scattered on Washington Indian Reserve

LACEY, WASHINGTON (NEWS1130) – While out for a walk on the Nisqually Indian Reserve in Washington State Saturday afternoon, a dog returned to its owner carrying a partly skeletal lower portion of a leg and a foot.

This prompted a police dog team to scour the area around Nisqually River, an old fish hatchery, and property on Peter Kalama Drive near Lacey Washington.

By the time their search wrapped up at 6 p.m. on Sunday, a human rib cage, pelvis, parts of a skull, ,jawbone and teeth were recovered along with what police are calling “tissue-type matter.”

Police aren’t sure how old the person was, the cause of death, or even the gender; the Thurston County Coroner’s Office is now cross-referencing any missing persons reports.

The Coroner says they will be examining the parts for signs of tool marks left by a handsaw or electric tool, but the remains may have been scattered by animals.
