NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There is a glimmer of hope in the search for Tom Billings, a British tourist missing for more than month on the Lower Mainland.

“We have to be very measured in our approach, but this is what we were waiting for, ” admits Tim Jones, search leader with North Shore Rescue.

What they were waiting for was some kind of tip from the public about the 22-year-old.

Thanks to a Tweet about aerial footage of the search area gathered by Mark Miller of Discovery Channel fame, they got it.

“Information came in to North Van RCMP from two female trail runners. We feel it’s a very credible sighting, in the Lynn Headwaters area, that occurred at about 1:30 to two o’clock in the afternoon of the 25th of November,” he explains.

“The search has been reactivated at the request of Vancouver Police and North Van RCMP.”

Jones says first thing Sunday morning, searchers will be looking at the backside of Grouse Mountain, as well as areas of Crown Creek and Crown Mountain.

Billings wast last spotted in Vancouver late last month.
