Vigil planned to remember Julie Paskall

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Hundreds of people are expected to gather in Surrey’s Holland Park tonight for a candlelight vigil to remember Julie Paskall.

She’s the Newton hockey mom who died after a random attack three weeks ago.

Bill Hoadley is deeply upset over the loss of one of his best friends.

He says the fear that has taken over the community since her death has been crippling. “We all know what Newton is like, it’s a terrible area. There was a girl that was attacked two weeks before that in the same area, why didn’t they do anything about this? Why does it always have to lead to somebody being killed before anything gets done.”

The 53-year-old mother was beaten and left for dead outside the Newton Arena.

“I feel more comfortable walking down Hastings and Main than I would be out in Newton. You know, you got some lunatic out there beating up women with rocks, it’s not a good thing,” adds Hoadley.

A funeral for Paskall will be held later this month.
