VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Grouse Grind record-holder is being banned from professional cycling for two years amid accusations of doping violations.
Vancouver’s Sebastian Salas has been a professional cyclist since 2011.
News1130’s Adam Forsythe reports Salas was forced to do a random drug test after a race last summer. “The circumstances aren’t exactly clear but at some point he was caught tampering with the test. He admitted right away he was in the wrong, so while he didn’t actually test positive for performance-enhancing drugs, he did try and cover something up.”
Salas’ record for running the Grind is 23 minutes and 48 seconds.
He’s won the Grouse Grind Mountain Run every year between 2008 and 2012.
