Apple bug could put your personal info at risk

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you have an iPhone running on old software, you’ll want to change that — and soon!
Updating the software is the fix for a bug that could allow the person sitting across the coffee shop to get to your personal information.
The bug means if you’re on a shared network, someone else could get into the communication between a site and a browser; that may lead to them gaining access to your e-mails and financial transactions.
Apple has released iOS 7.0.6 for newer phones to fix the problem.
The company is so concerned about the bug, it’s also advising you downgrade to iOS 6.1.6 if you have an old iPod or an iPhone 3GS.
Developers have not wanted to discuss the problem; they’re afraid doing so would be helping those who want to exploit the bug.
OS X is having the same problem, but there isn’t a fix for it yet. The bug is affecting Safari; it means the browser cannot definitely know whether the servers it’s communicating with are who they claim.
On OS X, you’re advised to use Firefox or Chrome instead.
