How much more snow can we expect?

By

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – It looks like the snow isn’t going away — at least, not today.

Snow has been falling in several areas of the Lower Mainland this morning.

“It’s been snowing everywhere,” News1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate.

“From what I can see on the doppler radar, it’s snowing all across southern Vancouver Island, onto the Sunshine Coast, almost as far north as Squamish, right across all of Metro Vancouver, in Blaine, in Bellingham, and even in the Fraser Valley.”

“The amounts are all over the place, as is the snow. It’s widespread this morning and will continue for several hours,” says Russ.

All public schools are open today.

Russ tells us the snow won’t last too long!

“As the afternoon wears on, you’ll see in the coastal areas and the lowlands — Richmond, Delta, and downtown — a little rain mixing in with plus 2 for the high. So, no significant accumulations. But in the forecast, there’s at least 5 cm, if not double that amount, for areas just further inland and over higher terrain, much like we saw over the weekend,” adds Russ.

“Tonight’s low is minus-1, precipitation completely tapers off tonight and instead we’re left with a cloudy Tuesday, but a relatively dry one. The high tomorrow rebounds to plus 4.”
