Record snowfall on Coquihalla in February

By

HOPE (NEWS1130) – February was a record breaking month for snowfall on the Coquihalla Highway.

Bob Gilowski with VSA Maintenance says just over 300 centimetres fell in February alone. In the past, just over 220 centimetres was the most they had seen. Gilowski calls this overwhelming. “Especially when it comes at you in two weeks as opposed to four weeks, which we would normally expect that type of snowfall to come in the month of February.

He expects another two months of winter weather on the Coquihalla.

Another foot of snow could fall over the next day or so.

Temperatures are expected rise by Thursday and that could also make conditions wet and sloppy on that stretch.
