Feds behind on marijuana laws: Gregor Robertson

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver’s mayor is arguing the feds need to play catch up when it comes to pot laws.

Gregor Robertson thinks people here are ahead of the politicians.

The mayor is on-side with his police department, which intends to make the city’s marijuana dispensaries a low priority. “Vancouver doesn’t have a lax mentality. Our primary concern is dealing with violent crime.”

Robertson says it’s the federal government that needs to change. “We need to see a new way approach. The war on drugs hasn’t worked. Kids have more access to marijuana than they do to alcohol.”

He says the country should move in the same direction as Washington and Colorado, and tax and regulate pot.
