Lack makes 30 saves as Canucks blank Predators

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Rookie Nicklas Jensen opened the scoring just over a minute before Alex Edler tallied on the powerplay and Eddie Lack stopped every shot he faced as Vancouver took a 2-0 victory over Nashville.

Jensen scored his third goal in the past four games to break a goalless deadlock just over six minutes into the third period. Henrik Sedin had the puck in the slot and as he lost a handle on it, Jensen flew in and picked it up before rifling a wristshot off the crossbar and in.

A little under a minute after Jensen’s goal, Victor Bartley took a penalty to give Vancouver its first and only powerplay of the game. The Canucks needed only four seconds on the man-advantage before Edler hammered home a one-timer to make it 2-0.

It was another strong game for Henrik, as the Canucks captain recorded a pair of assists. Sedin has tallied five assists over his past three games.

Lack had his busiest period in the first, as he turned aside 14 shots to keep the game tied at zero. In all he made 30 saves to record his fourth shutout of the season and of his career. It’s Lack’s first clean sheet since he took over the starting job when Roberto Luongo was traded to Florida.

The Canucks have won four of their past seven games, but none of the wins came back-to-back. Vancouver wraps up its two-game homestand on Sunday with a visit from the Buffalo Sabres.
