PORTLAND, OR (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants were shutout 3-0 by the Portland Winterhawks in Game 2 of their first round WHL playoff series, which has the G-men heading home down 2-0 in the best-of-seven.

Vancouver fell 4-3 on Friday night in Game 1 and hoped to bring some confidence in from the tight contest.

Delta native Nicolas Petan opened the scoring for the home side on the powerplay 16 minutes into the first period.

Alex Schoenborn and Taylor Leier scored in the second period to provide the rest of the offense.

Portland goaltender Brendan Burke was rarely tested as he made just 15 saves for the shutout. Through two games of the series, the Winterhawks have outshot the Giants a combined 88-31.

Peyton Lee made 40 saves or more for the second straight game in a losing effort for the Giants. Vancouver will host Game 3 on Tuesday and Game 4 on Wednesday.
