Dangerous dogs in Richmond will be returned to owner under conditions

By

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – A judge has made a ruling in a dangerous dog case in Richmond.

The two Rottweilers will be free once their owners meet a number of conditions.

Ted Townsend with the City of Richmond says the two dogs were seized back in October after attacking people and other animals.

He says an order was sought for their destruction allowing the City to hold the dogs in custody until there was a legal resolution. “The owner pleaded guilty to two counts of bylaw infractions and was fined $2,000. The dogs will have to go through some training at an independent facility with animal behaviourist.”

Townsend says the owner must attend and pay for those dog training classes.

The Rottweilers will be released to their owner once an expert determines they’re no longer a threat.
