Multi-million dollar upgrade planned for Aldergrove border crossing

ALDERGROVE (NEWS1130) – The Aldergrove border crossing is getting a major upgrade that’s expected to help get you into the States faster.

The $17.7 million upgrade is expected to be completed in just under two years.

Minister of Public Safety Steven Blaney says in addition to a NEXUS lane, a primary and secondary inspection area will be built.

He says the current facility is obsolete. “We will reduce the wait times and by reducing the wait times, what we expect, it will increase the offer of opportunity for travellers to get in a faster way from north to south.”

Blaney says even after the upgrade the crossing will still only operate from 8 a.m. to midnight.
