Woman dead following standoff in Clearwater

CLEARWATER (NEWS1130) – One woman is dead, a standoff is over at a home in Clearwater, north of Kamloops
Police had the property surrounding for most of the day after reports of a domestic dispute.
Reporter Raffelina Sirianni with CFJC TV says a man was barricaded inside. “Essentially what we know is there was an altercation at this home, a woman was killed, three children were taken hostage. The man believed to be the suspect is believed to be the common-law husband of this woman.”
The children were rescued shortly before the standoff ended.
“Shortly after 6 p.m. a two-year-old boy was removed from the home and whisked away to an ambulance. We’re told two older children, a girl aged six and a boy aged four, were taken from the home this morning,” adds Sirianni.
Police haven’t released the identity of the suspect or the woman who has died died.
