BC woman hurt in US skydiving crash coming home

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Pemberton woman hurt in a parachute accident in Arizona is being transported by air ambulance from Phoenix to Lions Gate Hospital.

Kenzie Markey’s father Joe is relieved. “Vancouver gave us a real deal on an air lift, half of what we were expecting.”

Markey’s medical bills have hit around $500,000 and fundraising efforts are still under $20,000. Joe says his main concern right now is the health of his daughter.

While she is still in and out of consciousness and has several broken bones, he says she’s stable.

As for the bills though “there is a law firm in Vancouver that has shown interest in doing some pro-bono negotiating with the hospital,” he says.

Thirty-two-year-old Markey was hurt in early April but friends say she has a lot of experience in the sport.
