Stanley Park death confirmed a homicide

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s fifth homicide of 2014.

Officers were called to the Brockton Oval area of Stanley Park around 6 a.m. today after reports of a woman in distress; she died shortly after. She was originally found by the park’s caretaker.

Police have identified her as 33-year-old Thi Yen Le from Surrey. Le was known to police and investigators believe she was targeted.

VPD Constable Brian Montague says an autopsy will be done. “As far as how she was killed, [that is] information that we’re not releasing.”

Montague adds it doesn’t look like the woman was jogging in the park at the time; there is also no evidence she was sexually assaulted.
