Some drivers distracted by making out, makeup: survey

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Many of you appear to have a hard time fessing up to your bad driving habits.

A Leger survey shows a majority of drivers report seeing distracted people behind the wheel, but very few admit they can also be guilty of it.

Pauline Kemp with RSA Insurance says hair, makeup and even brushing teeth have been reported.

She says you can’t leave out furry friends. “Sixty-six per cent of Canadians have witnessed people driving with pets on their lap. Only four per cent admit to doing it.”

“Twenty-four per cent of people say they have observed someone making out in the driver’s seat, but three per cent admit to it,” she adds.

Kemp says 20 to 30 per cent of all collisions in Canada involve driver distractions.
