VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Canadians seem to love pulling out the plastic.
New research shows we rank number two in the world when it comes to credit card use.
If used irresponsibly, frequent credit card use can cause significant financial problems.
Eric Spence with Consolidated Credit Counseling Services of Canada says you can reduce the temptation of needless spending by leaving your card at home. “Credit cards are not like your wife, they’re not going to get angry if you leave them at home.”
He says you should also be keeping a budget. “Write it down, where your money is going, where it should be going, that’s going to let you stay out of debt. Get help if you have a problem, reach out to someone you trust. Tell them you have a debt problem.”
Spence adds good money management starts with living within your means.
