Lynn Valley Days Carnival Lynn Valley, North Vancouver
European Festival – Swangard Stadium, Burnaby
It was a very eventful day, starting with a month of May wrap party at Lynn Valley May Days Carnival and parade. Lots of floats, old cars, Geisha girls and Cadets! I even got to jump in the Remax hot air balloon float for a photo opportunity, minus the balloon. Although the Lions Cookshack was tempting, I held off for perogies and borscht at the Euopean Festival at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. So many rich and delicious foods come from Europe, it was hard to choose and I wanted to eat them all. I felt right at home connecting with my European Roots today. Be prepared to get the travel bug if you head to this festival! perogi recipe above is straight from the makers!
See you tomorrow for more community event action.

Vancouver International Children’s Festival – Granville Island, Vancouver
Central City Foundation Fair in the Square – Victory Square Park
EAT Vancouver Food and Cooking Festival – BC Place, Vancouver
The Vancouver International Children’s Festival was all smiles. From Dressing up with My City Photos to getting ‘Entwined” and the Magical Mystery Maze, year after year young families flock to Granville Island for this great event. Parents were having to pry their seven year old boys away from the Nintendo testing station! The waterpark is now open – so next time you are on Granville Island don’t forget to bring the family suits and towels!
Bodhi Jones provided some great outdoor entertainment at Central City Foundation’s Fair in the Square today at Victory Square Park. www.imaneighbour.ca was launched at today’s in support of inner city men, women, children and families. 2500 Burgers and 500 pounds of watermelon were given out today by Vancouver Community College Culinary Arts Students. The ‘Before I Die….” inspiration board was very impactful.
Michael Clive, the Weber Grilling Specialist at EAT Vancouver the Food and Cooking Festival provided valuable BBQing tips for making burgers even juicier. Tip: let your burger sit a few minutes before you eat in order to lock in all the flavours. SIPS was buzzing with cocktail and beer lovers and the lines for food samples at the show was endless. It was very apparent how many foodies we have here in Vancouver, a lot more than I ever imagined. I will have to make a separate trip to BOSA Foods for some truffle salami or anything truffle for that matter!
See you next weekend! Be sure to email your event information to steph.florian@rci.rogers.com
