Metro Vancouver air quality not a concern just yet

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – On the heels of a sunny weekend, we’re heading into another hot week.

But you don’t have to be concerned about air quality just yet.

Laurie Bates-Frymel is an air quality specialist with Metro Vancouver. She it’s a little early in the season to worry.

“We really take notice when the temperatures in the Lower Fraser Valley approach 30 degrees or so. So, we’re not quite there yet,” she explains.

“Later on in the season, we may see those temperatures. So we’re continuing to watch the data as it comes in,” she adds.

The haze you’re seeing now is because of the humidity, which is at 80 per cent in many areas.

You can track air quality at airmap.ca or cleanairbc.ca.
