New Brunswick premier weighs in on Moncton shootings

By

FREDERICTON, N.B.- While the search continues for the suspect in the shooting that has claimed the lives of three RCMP officers and wounded two others, the premier is urging Monctonians to obey the warnings of the RCMP.

A lockdown remains in place in an area of north Moncton with residents being told to stay in their homes.

Heavily armed Mounties are patrolling the area searching for 24-year-old Justin Bourque who is named as a suspect after police posted photos of a man in military camouflage carrying two rifles last night on Twitter.

Alward, speaking on The Morning News with Allan Dearing, says the government is doing what it can to help out. “We certainly have put in place senior leadership to look at how we can support the community at this point in time”, says Alward. “We obviously took decisions to close schools and government buildings today to ensure that people are not on the streets”.

Transit services are also not running today with postal delivery also cancelled.
