Scrambling get a fan or an air conditioner to beat the heat?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Are you ready to deal with temperatures over 30 degrees around the Lower Mainland?

People will be looking for ways to beat the heat, and the easiest thing is to get a fan or air conditioner. But have stores been cleaned out if its stock?

Rob Cayer is a manager at a Canadian Tire in Vancouver. He says despite a spike in sales this week, they are well-prepared for a last-minute rush.

“I think we have learned from experience that we order enough now for supply and demand so I think right now, we are sitting pretty good for stock. So if someone wants an air conditioner, we have it. If somebody wants a fan, we have it.”

Cayer says people in the downtown area are looking exclusively for fans.

“It’s tricky because there is lots of condos that won’t accept air conditioners because of the way their windows project outwards as opposed to up and down or left or right,” he explains.

Cayer says if stock does run low over the weekend, they will make an emergency order. He says an average pedestal fan will run you about $50 and an air conditioner will cost you around $400.
