Police looking for witness after young girl was groped in West Vancouver

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Police in West Vancouver are hoping a witness will come forward after a young girl was groped on a bus yesterday.

Police say around 2:30 p.m. a 22-year-old woman got onto West Vancouver Blue Bus (#255) at Park Royal North with an 11-year-old girl.

An elderly man apparently started speaking with the pair and then sat down beside the girl before touching her. Investigators have been told another passenger raised the alarm.

“This other female observed and… basically, verbally intervened,” says Constable Jeff Palmer.

The man was ordered off the bus around 17th Street and Marine Drive.

Police have spoken with a man in the area about the incident, but they need to talk to the witness on the bus before taking the investigation further. She is described as having long, dark hair and wearing dark frame glasses and a blue top at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300.
