August is upon us and so are some amazing free festivals this weekend. Follow me as I tour the event circuit this weekend and bring you highlights from community events around the Lower Mainland. Harmony Arts Festival – West Vancouver
The Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver was a glorious way to start the day. I interviewed Michaela Morris from House Wine in the Waterfront Lounge, Jewellery designer Tania Gleave and artist Karen Lancey from Metal Mermaid Welding. Culinary, visual, performing arts – a celebration of everything art on the shores of Ambleside.
Richmond Maritime Festival – Britannia Shipyards, Steveston
A seaside celebration embracing the history of Steveston. I hit up the Richmond Maritime Festival at the Brittania Shipyards Heritage site and met some interesting waterfront characters along my route. The most interesting – interviewing Rikki the Rat, the festival’s new mascot and entertainer.

Uptown Live – New Westminster
Everything indie music at Uptown Live Music Fest in New West! So many News1130 fans came to say hello and get photos as well as on air interviews. I absolutely loved jumping inside the celebrity food truck Tacofino for a famous fish taco made by the man Lev Jackson himself.
