Stretch of hot weather coming to an end

By

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – Some relief may be in store if you’re getting tired of temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.

News1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate says a cool-down is coming, but it might not help with BC’s forest fire fight.

“There is a cooler phase coming, but the one that you’re hearing about doesn’t really arrive in the Southern Interior until Wednesday,” says Russ.

“So, it’s still scorching today and tomorrow. The temperatures are in the mid to upper 30s on the other side of the Coast Range Mountains, all through the Southern Interior.”

“Besides, those cooling showers that are coming in the second half of the week, they’ll also be accompanied by some thunderstorms, which doesn’t help the forest fire situation that much,” adds Russ.

He notes the Central Interior isn’t expected to get wet. “It is warm and sunny all week long.”

“Close to home, we get a hot one today. I think it’ll be 27 degrees by the water and 33 inland — the hottest in the most recent series — and then it does cool off. Tomorrow, it begins to cloud over with maybe a brief shower, a passing thundershower, and about 23 or 27 degrees. By Wednesday, we’ll be down near 21 and that is with some showers and thundershowers in the forecast,” says Russ.
