Trudeau lashes out at Tories over anti-pot campaign

SASKATOON, SK. (NEWS1130) – Federal Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says the latest anti-pot move by the Conservative government is a waste of taxpayer money.  He’s lashing out at the Tories over reports Health Canada wants three doctors’ groups to sign onto an anti-pot advertising campaign.

While speaking to a crowd in Saskatoon last night, Trudeau says this is another example of the Harper Conservatives using your money to attack him.

“Taxpayers are getting extremely frustrated with the fact this government tends to use public money for ads that do more for its partisan aims than for actual public service,” says Trudeau.

He is the target of intense criticism from the Tories, who claim his policies would make it easier for young people to access marijuana.

Trudeau says that’s not the case.  “I’ve offered a concrete solution and I look forward to a debate based on logic and evidence because I know that’s what Canadian voters want to see.”

The report says Health Canada has approached the Canadian Medical Association, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada — the latter of which has agreed to sign on.
