Metro Vancouver’s busiest bus stop could see some relief

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – TransLink thinks it has a solution for Metro Vancouver’s worst bus stop and it comes just in time for people going back to school.

It’s making changes to the way people wait for the 99 B-Line at Commercial-Broadway Station

It’s a pilot queuing system with painted lines and pavement markings directing passengers to the front, middle and rear doors.

The hope is it will make passenger boarding easier and keep sidewalk space open for people walking by.

Some frustrated B-Line riders say it’s much needed.

“If it makes it easier for people it’s a good idea,” says one man.

“Ya it’s really badly needed, especially going from Commercial and Broadway to UBC, its crazy,” explains a regular rider.

“I think it’s going to be really good that there’s going to be some way for people to line up properly,” adds another woman.

An accessibility path to the front door will also be brought in for customers with disabilities.

The pilot should be up and running this week and will be in place by Spring.
