No deal yet between teachers and government

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Mediator Vince Ready will once again be speaking with both the BCTF and the school employers association Saturday afternoon.

Talks involving the teachers union and the government ended for the day at around 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

Ready says he’ll meet with both sides separately again later today. “[To] see if it is possible to find a frame work to get this dispute resolved and so far we haven’t done that.”

Ready adds he’s still looking for a useful framework to get the dispute resolved. “The parties are still a long ways apart. I’m going to meet with the union again at 1 p.m. and discuss their package with them.”

Saturday will be the third day of exploratory talks.
