Travis Lulay has dislocated right shoulder

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions have announced that quarterback Travis Lulay suffered a dislocated right shoulder in Friday’s 7-5 win against the Ottawa RedBlacks.

“Travis has suffered a shoulder dislocation very similar to the one he had last season,” says Dr. Bob McCormack. “Due to the nature of the injury, the surgery which was performed on Travis’ shoulder last winter has essentially been undone.”

The Lions have placed Lulay on the six-game injured list, but if he needs another surgery, his season will be done.

The timing is horrible for Lulay, who was making his first start of the season for the Leos when the injury occurred.

Head Coach Mike Benevides says the injury is a big blow to the boys in orange.

“The biggest thing in pro sports is we know we have to do it for him. We will be there to support him, but our job is to go out and win. I think athletes and the maturity we have in our room, the guys will be able to overcome that and deal with it because we have to line-up and play again.”

The team now hands the ball to quarterback Kevin Glenn. He will lead the Leos in to battle for their game against Winnipeg on Saturday night at BC Place. Kick off is at 7 p.m..
