MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey hosting meeting for parents

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An emergency meeting is being held for parents by the MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey.

David Eby is hosting the meeting in order to give parents an opportunity to network for childcare options and to vent about the ongoing education dispute.

He says the government needs to come up with a plan to end the strike if they won’t agree to binding arbitration.

“I don’t think this meeting itself will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and get kids back to school. But, I do think it provides a really important opportunity for parents to realize they’re not alone in this in their frustration with the government, they’re not alone in demanding a high quality public education system for their kids,” he explains.

He adds he has been getting an overwhelming amount of calls from parents who say the $40 they are entitled to just isn’t good enough.

The strike is in its second week of this school year.

The meeting will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Point Grey Community Church.
