Lions defense dominates in win over Blue Bombers

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Kevin Glenn returned to the starters role for the BC Lions and threw touchdown passes to Andrew Harris and Emmanuel Arceneaux in a 26-9 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at BC Place.

Glenn had started every game for the Lions this season up until last week’s win in Ottawa. Travis Lulay made his first start of the year in that game, but dislocated his shoulder late in the fourth quarter.

The Lions defense held up to send Winnipeg to a third loss in a row, allowing just three Lirim Hajrullahu field goals. The Blue Bombers have lost five of their past six games to fall to 6-6 on the season.

BC has now won five of its past six games and seven of its last nine to get to 7-4 on the year.

Glenn hit Harris for a four-yard touchdown with under a minute to play until halftime, putting the Lions ahead 15-3. He connected with Arceneaux for a 30-yard score late in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Paul McCallum missed just his second field goal of the season for BC, but was three-of-four on the night.

Glenn completed 20-of-27 pass attempts for 261 yards in the victory. Winnipeg quarterback Drew Willy left the game with an undisclosed injury late in the second quarter and was replaced by Brian Brohm for the rest of the night.

The Lions host the Toronto Argonauts on Friday.
