Rob Ford tells newspaper he’s had a lung biopsy

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford says he has gone through some “invasive testing,” including what he described as a lung biopsy on Monday, and that he was vomiting and in pain, according to a report in the Toronto Sun.

Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington told political affairs specialist John Stall with our Toronto station, 680News, on Tuesday morning he spoke to Ford over the phone and that he doesn’t sound well.

“He was rough for sure, there’s no question that he’s in great discomfort. You could hear him coughing and hacking and sort of breathing heavy. It really hurt to hear that,” Warmington said.

“He described some of the things — the poking and the prodding that he’s been going through.”

The mayor is at Mount Sinai Hospital awaiting biopsy results on a tumour on his abdomen.

The Sun also reports Ford is returning phone calls from constituents.

“He asked for his clipboard of phone numbers and he was making constituent calls,” Warmington said.

“He’s feeling pretty bad about everything. I think he was looking for something to do get his mind off it. He loves to do those calls. That’s probably his favourite thing to do, and he’s making them from his hospital bed, and that’s been confirmed by staff and by the mayor himself.”
