VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) -Animal activists across the globe, including here in Vancouver, are trying to mirror the success of the ALS ice bucket challenge.
The hashtag Disrupt Speciesism is being used on Twitter and Facebook. and people are going into places that serve meat or clothing stores that sell fur, making impassioned speeches, and posting the videos online.
Almira Tanner, a local activist, says the movement is picking up steam. “We have had tons of responses and shares around the world, you know people have shared the video’s that we’ve done, people that I don’t even know so this is really working and spreading, this idea of disrupting speciesism.”
Tanner and a group of roughly 20 other activists will be protesting in downtown Vancouver today, disrupting businesses, ending at Chipotle on Howe Street.
