Teen charged in Burnaby homicide

By

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – A 16-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of a man near Brentwood Mall last week.

Aladdin Ramadan, 20, was killed near Rosser Avenue and Lougheed Highway last Wednesday.

“At this point, it doesn’t appear to be affiliated with gangs. What it looks like, is it was a dispute that was ongoing between our suspect and the victim and in that case, we do believe it was targeted,” says Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Mounties say the boy did not resist arrest, but he was carrying a loaded handgun when he was arrested yesterday. Due to his age, the boy can’t be identified.

Pound says the teen is no stranger to them.

“He is known to police. There’s really not a lot of details I can go into though. It’s unfortunate, this case all around. We’re talking about a 16-year-old kid. But the police in this case were successful in getting him off the streets.”

Three men were seen leaving the scene of the shooting. Mounties haven’t ruled out more arrests.
