WINNIPEG (NEWS1130) – Police have made a gruesome discovery in Winnipeg.

The bodies of as many as four infants were found inside a storage locker yesterday. Officers made the discovery Monday in a commercial part of the city’s northwest.

Constable Eric Hofley says the victims appear to be very young and could be newborns. He says the remains were in various states of decomposition.

He adds they were so decomposed, it’s not clear if they are dealing with three or four bodies.

Reports suggest the woman who rented the locker has been questioned by police. But there’s no word on charges. Police were called by the storage locker company due to “suspicious circumstances.”

Hofley says autopsies are being conducted to determine how the infants died and exactly how old they were.

He says in his 14 years as police officer, he’s never seen anything like this.
