Pink pancakes this weekend for breast cancer research

COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – They’re the first people you call when you need help, but sometimes it’s them who need some support.

Kim Saulnier is a fire inspector in Coquitlam and she would love it if you would join them this Saturday for the very first — but not the last — Pink Pancake Breakfast in support of the BC/Yukon Breast Cancer Foundation.

Besides eating breakfast, you’ll have a chance to dine in the hall and tour the pink fire truck. The department acquired the pink fire truck last year to support a fire captain who underwent treatment for breast cancer. The captain is back at work, but another member’s wife is going through a similar situation.

Kim says they just wanted to show some support for all of the families in the community who deal with similar health issues.

From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Town Centre Fire Station at 1300 Pinetree Way, firefighters will serve up a pink breakfast for a suggested donation of $5.

You’re asked not to enter at the front of the fire hall because it’s needed in case vehicles have to leave for an emergency. Instead, use the north entrance.

Parking Lot E in Town Centre Park will be opened up for free parking during the event, as will the Pinetree Secondary lot.

It is going to take a sea of volunteers to bring this event to you and the folks with the Coquitlam Firefighters Charitable Society want to thank their many sponsors including Blooming Buds Florists, PriceSmart Foods, Scotiabank, McDonalds Restaurant, Kinsmen Club of Coquitlam, Safeway Canada and The Tricities Now News.
